Oculus Rift S @ GDC 2019

Everyone loves a good sneak peek. If you’re a fan of gaming technology, then the Game Developers Conference is where you want to be to get a behind-the-scenes look at upcoming gear and games. At this year’s show, Facebook and Oculus revealed the Rift S, the successor to the original Oculus Rift. The new Rift S is everything people love about Rift, only with a higher resolution display, improved optics, and built-in Oculus Insight tracking technology.

Designed in collaboration with Lenovo, the Rift S features a newly designed headset built to make VR more comfortable and accessible, thanks to a single-cable system and better weight distribution. And since Rift S works with the Rift platform, all existing Rift games are compatible right out of the box. Of course, there’s plenty more coming soon. Alongside the Rift S headset itself, Oculus rolled into GDC with playable demos of unreleased games like Asgard’s Wrath, Stormland, and Vacation Simulator, to give attendees a taste of what’s to come.
